It’s actually a good exercise to show them how different an image can look depending on the colors you choose to fill up the spaces. However, you can print more copies and let them choose their own colors and combinations as well. So they should follow the guide and color up the image according to the colors specified. Change the Colors Honestly, oftentimes having lighter lines actually makes it easier to color when using crayons, markers and coloring pencils. Most kids don’t mind if the black lines are a bit grey or dotted, so I find that printing draft quality pages works just fine. This is a setting you can choose depending on your printer menu that basically uses less ink.
